On Thursday, October 10, 2024, 6:00-7:30 p.m., Center for Hope & Safety will hold a reception for The Art of Survival exhibit at The Art School at Old Church, 561 Piermont Rd., Demarest, NJ.

This exhibit takes place during the month of October for Domestic Violence Awareness Month and features artwork created by Bergen County domestic violence and sexual assault survivors who participated in The Art of Survival workshops at Center for Hope & Safety in Rochelle Park throughout the year.

Through The Art of Survival program, Bergen County survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault create visual art as a way to express the trauma of abuse. Survivors not only learn artistic skills, but they also experience a safe space to share and bond with one another, both offering and receiving support.

The program is led by Marta Levy, Children’s Program Director and Creative Arts Therapist at Center for Hope & Safety.

Center for Hope & Safety’s The Art of Survival is made possible by a grant administered by the Bergen County Division of Cultural and Historic Affairs from funds of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
