Register for Evening of Hope 2025

BD is one of the largest global medical technology companies in the world and is advancing the world of health by improving medical discovery, diagnostics and the delivery of care. The company supports the heroes on the frontlines of health care by developing innovative technology, services and solutions that help advance both clinical therapy for patients and clinical process for health care providers.

BD and its more than 70,000 employees have a passion and commitment to help enhance the safety and efficiency of clinicians’ care delivery process, enable laboratory scientists to accurately detect disease and advance researchers’ capabilities to develop the next generation of diagnostics and therapeutics. BD has a presence in virtually every country and partners with organizations around the world to address some of the most challenging global health issues.

The relationship between BD and Center for Hope & Safety dates back to 2000. Since 2014, BD has provided more than $250,000 in grant funding to support our Safe House and Creative Connections, a free program for child survivors of domestic violence living in Bergen County. Creative Connections participants heal through learning and exploring an array of art materials and techniques. Children are able to tap into unique self-expression while meeting new friends and having fun. BD has also provided financial support to fund a teacher to work with children in our Safe House.

This year, BD is generously supporting our Legal Services Program, which provides survivors with legal advice, counsel, representation, and advocacy with restraining orders, custody, divorce, and other emergent matters related to domestic violence. This support is especially critical in light of the recent loss of essential federal funding for this program.

The spirit of giving at BD extends to the in-kind donations that staff have made over the years. Ellen Rafferty and Monica Council Miles have coordinated donations of many types of items, including socks, tee shirts, purses, holiday toys, as well as back packs for back-to-school.

We would like to acknowledge one special BD employee, Lucy Turland. In 2021, Lucy began asking her family, friends and neighbors to donate new purses for the holidays and filling them with toiletry essentials and small gifts. The first year she collected 61 purses, and in 2024 that number more than doubled to 147 purses. Lucy’s dedication to our clients is amazing.

We are thrilled to present our 2025 Corporate Partner Award to BD in recognition of its longstanding support and commitment to helping us turn fear into safety, helplessness into strength, and isolation into hope.
